The oldest way people read the sky: where it came from, the real astronomy underneath it, and how its traditions differ.
Astrology is a cultural and interpretive system, not a science. CUE uses parts of it (the Western signs and the Chinese animals) and says where its choices differ from tradition, such as the Cat in place of the Rabbit.

Tropical vs Sidereal Astrology
One tied to the seasons, one to the stars, now about 24° apart.
Western astrology starts the zodiac at the March equinox; Vedic astrology starts it at fixed stars. Precession has pulled the two apart by about 24°, so most planets shift back one sign.

CUE’s choices Where CUE differs from tradition
- CUE uses the Western tropical signs, by calendar date, not the sidereal zodiac or the constellations.
- CUE’s Chinese zodiac uses the Cat where the Chinese tradition uses the Rabbit, as the Vietnamese zodiac does.
- CUE does not use houses, rising signs or nakshatras, which need an exact birth time and place.
