What is a birth chart?

A birth chart, or astrology chart, is a snapshot of the sky at the moment you were born. Every planet was sitting in one of the 12 zodiac signs, and each one says something different about you. Your star sign is only the start.

How to read your birth chart in 2 minutes

  1. Start with your Sun sign. It is your main energy, the you that people meet during the day. If you only read one sign, read this one.
  2. Then your Saturn sign. In CUE it is your secondary energy: who you are at night, at home and with the people closest to you.
  3. Look at Venus for love and Jupiter for work. Venus shows what you are drawn to in a partner. Jupiter shows the skills that come easily and where they pay off.
  4. Skim the rest. The Moon is your feelings, Mercury how you think, Mars how you act. The slow outer planets, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, are shared by everyone born in the same few years.

Why CUE’s birth chart is different

  • Plain words, no jargon. No degrees, no aspects tables. Every placement says what it means for you in a sentence or two.
  • Day and night energy. Most sites read Saturn only as hard lessons. CUE reads your Saturn sign as your second energy, the side people see up close.
  • One birthday, three systems. CUE reads the same date through astrology, numerology and the Chinese zodiac, so you can see where they agree.

Birth chart questions

What is a birth chart?

A birth chart, also called an astrology chart, is a map of the sky at the moment you were born. It shows which zodiac sign each planet was in, from the Sun and the Moon out to Pluto. Your star sign is only one part of it.

How do I read my birth chart?

Start with four signs. Your Sun sign is your main energy, who you are by day. In CUE, your Saturn sign is your secondary energy, who you are at night. Your Venus sign shows how you love, and your Jupiter sign shows your career and skills. Make your free chart above to see all four.

What is my zodiac sign?

Your zodiac sign, or star sign, is your Sun sign: the sign the Sun was in on your birthday. It is your main energy, who you are by day. Your birth chart shows the zodiac sign of every other planet too, so make yours above to see them all.

What is my Venus sign?

Your Venus sign is the zodiac sign Venus was in when you were born. It shows what attracts you and how you act in love. It is often different from your Sun sign, so enter your birthday above to find yours.

What does Saturn mean in a birth chart?

Saturn is the planet of discipline and lessons. In CUE it is also your secondary energy: who you are at night, in private, once the day is over. Saturn stays in one sign for about two and a half years, so people born close together often share it.

Do I need my birth time for a birth chart?

It helps, but you can start without one. Your Sun, Saturn, Venus and Jupiter signs rarely change in a day. The Moon moves fast, so its sign can depend on your birth time, and so do the houses. Add your time for an exact chart.
