CUE Research · Study 20

Cryptocurrencies by Launch Date

The 100 largest cryptocurrencies and every other coin in CUE’s database, each read by the day it launched, by count and by market value.

The question: Do the most valuable cryptocurrencies share numbers or signs in the day they launched?

Testing CUE’s claim

CUE teaches that 28 is the number of wealth.

The claim was stated before this data was examined, so each test asks one narrow question: how often would random launch dates from the same years give that value as many coins, or as much market value, as it really has?

Launched on the 28th No evidence

Launched on the 28th appears about as often as chance gives, and holds about its share of the market value, in every group.

GroupCoinsExpectedShare of market valueExpectedBy luck (market value)

Top 100 + CUE 1 of 81 2.7 0.8% 3.3% about 1 in 3

Life Path 28 Some evidence

In the tokens, coins with this launch day hold 22.3% of the market value, against 1.6% expected. Random launch dates give that much about 1 in 30 times. Behind it: USDC.

Read this honestly

  • This is one list on one day, and the groups overlap: the top 25 is inside the top 100, so the rows are not separate confirmations.
  • Market values move every day, and a handful of coins hold most of the value, so one coin can make a slice look strong. The clean test is the same method on a later snapshot of the list.
  • A strong result describes where the market value sits; it does not show that a launch day causes value.

What stands out

No clear differences. Across every group of 50 or more and every measure, the numbers are within what chance produces.

Where the market value is

  • Worth watching · Sun sign

Tokens: Libra hold 78.3% of the market value, against 8.2% of the calendar. Behind it: Tether, USDC, Aave. Random launch dates give a slice this big about 1 in 17 times.

  • Worth watching · Day energy

Own network: 3 day energy hold 82.7% of the market value, against 12.9% of the calendar. Behind it: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Avalanche, Sui. Random launch dates give a slice this big about 1 in 16 times.

Money patterns are tested again on the next published list. A pattern that holds on new data is evidence; one that does not was luck.

Worth watching, not enough to claim

  • Day energy

Top 100 + CUE: 8 day energy appears 15 times against about 8.0 expected (1.88×).

Top 100 + CUE: every birth quarter is within normal variation of random launch dates from the same years.

Context What explains it

A launch is not a birth. People choose the day a network goes live, so a pattern here could reflect choices: launches timed for a conference, a quarter, or a number the founders liked. Filecoin, for one, switched to mainnet at block 148,888 because 8 reads as prosperity in Chinese.

The money view is dominated by Bitcoin, which alone is about half the value of the whole list. A sign or number with Bitcoin in it will look strong by value even when it is ordinary by count.

Many coins began as tokens on another chain and later moved to a network of their own. They are dated by the day their own network launched, which is the date the study is about. Tokens with no network of their own are dated by the day the token launched.

Most of these coins launched between 2017 and 2025, so each baseline uses the group’s own launch years.

Top 100 + CUE adds the coins in CUE’s own database that have left today’s top 100, such as EOS, Tezos, Bitcoin SV and Maker, dated as CUE records them. Where CUE’s date and a cited source disagree, the cited date is used.

Source The data

  • The 100 largest cryptocurrencies. Retrieved 2026-10-01. View source
  • The 100 largest cryptocurrencies by market value on CoinGecko, plus every other coin in CUE’s own database that CUE dates to the day, read by their launch date: for a coin with its own network, the day it went live (for Bitcoin, the first block on 3 January 2009); for a token, the day it launched. 24 of the 81 dates are confirmed by two or more sources.
  • Verification: 81 of 132 included. Each launch date is researched from a public source (a project announcement, an encyclopedia or the press), one cited per coin, and checked against CUE’s own database, CoinPaprika, CoinGecko and Wikidata where they record one. A coin with its own network is dated by the day that network went live; a token with no network of its own by the day the token launched. Coins without a researched date are kept only where the aggregators agree, or where just one records a date. Where only the month or year is known, or sources disagree, the coin is left out. Tokenized funds and loans are not cryptocurrencies and are left out, as are wrapped, staked and bridged copies of other coins.
  • Expected values: every day of the years each group was born in, weighted by how many people were born in each year, run through CUE’s engine. Weighting matters for Chinese signs and Life Paths, which depend on the year.
  • A difference is called clear only in groups of 50 or more and at least three standard errors from expected. Because each study tests about a hundred values, a clear difference needs 3.5 standard errors; 2.5 to 3.5 is only “worth watching”.
Left out: 51 people whose exact birth date could not be confirmed
