Havana’s identity reaches back to 1519, when the settlement was established in the location that became the enduring city on the western side of the Bay of Havana. November 16 is the traditional commemorative founding date, associated with the first mass and cabildo beneath a ceiba, although surviving historical evidence does not independently establish the exact day. Havana emerged from its protected harbor as a major Caribbean port and shipbuilding center, while its historic structure continued through later eras.
The November 16 date carries a 34/7 imprint, a 16/7 day, 16/7 year energy, Cat Eastern energy and Scorpio Western energy. Cat is compatible with Goat and Pig and has Rooster as its direct enemy. Pig timing produced the clearest recurrence in 2019, when Havana marked its 500th anniversary while extensive restoration renewed major buildings and historic spaces in Old Havana. Goat timing added an international connection in 2015, when Cuba and the United States restored diplomatic relations and reopened their embassies, including the U.S. Embassy in Havana. Rooster timing provides the strongest pressure contrast: during the severe Special Period of the early 1990s, Havana experienced widespread electricity shortages and sharp reductions in public transportation as fuel and other supplies became scarce.
CUE: Havana’s strongest pattern is preserving inherited structure while giving it new functions. Its harbor first made the city a gateway for trade and defense, while the same geography later supported international diplomacy, cultural exchange and heritage preservation, allowing Havana to repeatedly connect new roles to an enduring urban foundation.
