Founding of Jamestown

Date 14 May 1607, a Monday.

Jamestown was established on May 14 1607 by settlers sent by the Virginia Company of London, becoming the first permanent English settlement in North America. Built within the territory of the Paspahegh people, part of Powhatan's wider political network, it began as a commercial venture whose survival was far from secure. Its founding date reduces to 6 in CUE, associated with responsibility, stewardship and family.

The strongest pattern appears exactly one zodiac cycle later. In 1619, another Goat year, Jamestown hosted the first representative legislative assembly in English North America. That same year, the Virginia Company approved a deliberate program to recruit women to Virginia so settlers would establish families and remain in the colony. The major group arrived the following year, but the decision itself belonged to 1619. Jamestown was moving from a vulnerable company outpost toward a more permanent political and social structure.

That permanence was neither simple nor uniformly positive. Jamestown had nearly collapsed during the Starving Time of 1609 and 1610, and English expansion brought continuing conflict and displacement for the region's Indigenous peoples. The colony's growing permanence also became entangled with systems of coercive labor that would shape Virginia's later history.

CUE: Jamestown shows own sign amplification through a change in permanence. Goat first marks the establishment of the English settlement in 1607, then returns one full cycle later as Jamestown develops representative government and deliberately begins building a settled family society. Its 6 founding energy adds a second layer to the same pattern. What began as a risky commercial foothold was becoming an institution structured to remain.

Life Path, sun sign and Chinese sign are CUE's reading of the date, not scientific claims. They describe tendencies, never outcomes.
