Land Rover’s brand identity is anchored to April 30, 1948, when the first Series I Land Rover was produced and publicly launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show. Its deeper imprint began in 1947, when Maurice Wilks sketched the original vehicle on a Welsh beach. Land Rover later developed into a family of vehicles including Defender, Discovery, and Range Rover. The April 30 date carries Full Date 29/11, Day 30/3, Month 4, Year 22/4, with Rat as its Eastern sign, friendly with Dragon and Monkey, with Ox as its soulmate and Horse as its direct enemy.
The primary CUE discovery is that Rat years repeatedly coincide with Land Rover extending its reach through new forms of capability and scale. In the Rat year of 1972, Range Rover completed a 29,000 kilometre trans American expedition including the Darién Gap, demonstrating the brand’s ability to operate beyond conventional roads and into extreme terrain.
The pattern reappeared in the Rat year of 2008, when Tata Motors completed its acquisition of the Jaguar and Land Rover businesses from Ford, creating a new corporate setting for the brand and giving it access to a much larger global industrial group.
CUE: Land Rover’s Rat foundation expresses itself through adaptation and reach. The brand repeatedly takes its original all terrain capability into a larger arena, first through exploration and later through global corporate scale.
