Kia: the story in the numbers

Founded 11 December 1944, a Monday.

Kia established its formal identity on December 11, 1944, beginning as Kyungsung Precision Industry before growing into a global automaker. The date carries 32/5 CUE energy with an 11 day, Monkey Eastern energy, and Sagittarius Western sign. That combination aligns with the path Kia eventually took, repeatedly changing its product identity from bicycles and motorcycles to passenger cars, SUVs, hybrids, and electric vehicles.

The pattern became visible in the company’s major transitions. In 1962, a Tiger year and Monkey’s direct enemy year, Kia entered automobile production with the K-360. In 1974, another Tiger year, the Brisa became Kia’s first passenger car. The pressure did not stop the company from expanding. Instead, these periods repeatedly marked a change in what Kia was becoming.

The friendly cycle shows a different side of the pattern. In 2000, a Dragon year, Kia emerged from the financial crisis and moved into its new relationship with Hyundai Motor Group. In 2016, a Monkey year, Kia introduced the Niro hybrid SUV, while 2024, another friendly Dragon year, brought a record 3.09 million global vehicle sales. Across the cycles, the major milestones repeatedly arrive when Kia is expanding, restructuring, or redefining its mobility identity.

CUE: Kia’s strongest pattern is continuous reinvention. Its 32/5 foundation and Monkey identity keep resurfacing through changes in product, ownership, technology, and scale. Friendly years coincide with expansion and consolidation, while enemy years repeatedly bring pressure that forces a new chapter. Kia’s story is not simply about becoming a larger automaker. It is about continually becoming something new.

Life Path, sun sign and Chinese sign are CUE's reading of the date, not scientific claims. They describe tendencies, never outcomes.
