Dodge began on December 14, 1900, when brothers John Francis Dodge and Horace Elgin Dodge established their company in Detroit. The date carries 9 CUE energy, a 14/5 day, Rat Eastern energy, and Sagittarius Western sign. The company first supplied automotive components before producing complete automobiles and developing a performance identity that endured through repeated industry changes.
The Rat pattern became especially visible when Dodge revived and expanded its identity. In 2008, a Rat year, the Challenger returned, restoring one of the brand’s most recognizable performance names. In 2012, a Dragon year friendly to Rat, Dodge entered a new segment with the Dart. Then in 2024, another friendly Dragon year, the new Charger carried Dodge into a new generation with both electric and gasoline powertrains.
The more challenging cycle reveals Dodge’s restructuring pattern. In 2009, an Ox year, Ram separated from Dodge as its own brand. In 2021, another Ox year, Dodge was refocused around performance. These changes show how pressure can force the brand to clarify its identity and reorganize its structure. By contrast, 2014, a Horse year Rat’s direct enemy, marked Dodge’s 100th anniversary, demonstrating that enemy cycles do not automatically indicate failure. They can instead coincide with separation, pressure, or a decisive change in direction.
CUE: Dodge’s defining pattern is reinvention without losing recognition. Its 9 foundation and Rat identity repeatedly surface through returns, expansions, separations, and performance resets. The brand changes its products and structure while rebuilding around an identity people already know. Dodge does not simply preserve its legacy. It repeatedly puts that legacy into a new form.
