Name number · the whole name

The Thinker

7 is the number of the curious mind. It stands for learning, thinking and finding the truth. A name that adds up to 7 carries quiet and clever energy, like a lighthouse that can see far out across the sea.

When your name adds up to 7

You are the thinker of the group. You like to know how things work and why. You read books, watch documentaries and ask big questions just for fun. You often know a lot about things other people have never heard of, and you love to explain it. You like spending time on your own, and a quiet day with a good book can make you happier than a big party. You don’t follow the crowd. You have your own style and your own ideas, and you are often right before everyone else figures it out.

M is the 13th letter: 1 + 3 = 4.

People see someone serious about doing a good job. You come across as steady, focused and hard working, the kind of person who finishes their homework before playing and turns up on time every day. You seem organised, with a plan for everything, and people feel they can trust you with their things and their secrets. You clearly care about your future and your career. This first impression helps you a lot at school and at work, because people know that when they give you a task, it gets done right.

First vowel · energy inside

Driven to lead

A is the 1st letter, so it carries the 1. It’s the first vowel, so the 1 lives at the heart of your name.

Deep down, you want to lead and to win. You might look calm and easygoing, but inside there is a little fire that wants to be first. You don’t like being told what to do, and you feel best when you get to make your own choices. Big goals make you excited. When you have something to aim for, you work harder than anyone. The best thing for you is a goal of your own and the freedom to chase it your way.

The method

How CUE reads a name

The four steps, from your letters to your number
  1. Your name number

Every letter takes its place in the alphabet, from A = 1 to Z = 26, and is reduced to a single number. Add them up and reduce again. CUE keeps the master numbers 11, 22 and 33 whole, and a name that adds up to 20 is a hidden 11.

  2. Your first letter

The first energy people meet, before they really know you: your first impression (some calculators call it the cornerstone). K and V are master letters, 11 and 22.

  3. Your first vowel

The energy inside: what drives you. A first vowel can only be one of five numbers: A is 1, E is 5, I is 9, O is 6 and U is 3.

  4. Letter and vowel together

How you come across meets what drives you. An L (3) with an A (1) is great at starting conversations and new projects, with ambition spread across many fields.

Name numerology questions

What is name numerology?

Name numerology turns the letters of a name into numbers and adds them up. Each letter takes its place in the alphabet, so A is 1 and Z is 26. CUE calls this Letterology, and it works for any name or word.

What is my name number?

Type your first name into the calculator above. Every letter turns into its number, the numbers add up, and the total reduces to one number from 1 to 9, or a master number: 11, 22 or 33. That is your name number.

How do I calculate my name number?

Give every letter its number (A = 1, B = 2 … Z = 26), reduce each one to a single digit, add them up and reduce the total again. CUE keeps the master numbers 11, 22 and 33 whole, so K stays 11 and V stays 22. Emma is 5 + 4 + 4 + 1 = 14, and 1 + 4 = 5.

Is my name number the same as an expression or destiny number?

Close. Other calculators call the total of a full name its expression or destiny number. CUE calls it your name number, keeps the master numbers 11, 22 and 33 whole, and counts a total of 20 as a hidden 11.

What are master numbers in a name?

Master numbers are 11, 22 and 33. CUE keeps them whole instead of reducing them further, because they carry more energy: 11 is the old soul, 22 the master builder and 33 the master teacher. A name that adds up to 20 is a hidden 11.

What does a master number name mean?

A name that adds up to 11 carries the old soul: big feelings, strong gut feelings and a sense of being here for something special. 22 is the master builder, turning big dreams into real things. 33, the rarest, is the master teacher, made to reach people.

5 more questions

Why does my name add up differently on other sites?

CUE’s Letterology follows the same A to Z order as the Pythagorean chart, but keeps K (11) and V (22) as master letters, keeps 11, 22 and 33 whole, and counts a name that adds up to 20 as a hidden 11. A calculator that reduces all of these to single digits can give the same name a different number.

Can I change my name number?

Your name number changes with the spelling. Emma adds up to 5 and Ema to 1; Jon adds up to 3 and John to 11. Nicknames carry their own numbers too. Try each version: in CUE you can save every name and compare them.

Is this the same as gematria?

Gematria is the practice of reading words as numbers. Letterology is CUE’s version for English: every letter of the alphabet has its number, and any word or name adds up to one. Switch to Any word, or open CUE’s gematria calculator, to decode a word or phrase.

Should I use my full name or my nickname?

Try both. The name you were given and the name you go by each carry their own number. In CUE you can save every name and compare them side by side.

Can two names have the same number?

Yes. Many names and words add up to the same number. CUE’s Letterology dictionary lists the words that share each number, so you can see what your name lines up with.
