Why Your Horoscope Never Feels Accurate

THE PROBLEM

One sign, a twelfth of everyone

If you have read your horoscope and thought "that could be anyone", you are not wrong. A newspaper horoscope speaks to everyone born in the same month-long window: hundreds of millions of people at once. It has to be general to fit them all.

THE NATAL CHART

Your sun sign is one piece

In Western astrology your sun sign is just one placement. A natal chart adds your Moon, your rising sign and every planet by sign and house, from your birth date, time and place. Two people with the same sun sign can have very different charts.

OTHER SYSTEMS

Other systems read other parts of the date

Numerology reads the numbers in your full birth date: your Life Path and your born-day number. Chinese astrology reads your birth year as one of twelve animals.

Each looks at a different part of the same date, which is why combining them can feel more specific.

TIMING

A personal year instead of a monthly forecast

General horoscopes run on the calendar. In numerology your personal year turns on your own birthday, so the timing is yours, not everyone's.

PERSPECTIVE

Keep it in perspective

None of these systems predicts what will happen. They are ways to reflect on tendencies and timing. Use what helps, leave what does not, and keep the decisions yours.
